If you finished your three-year degree at National University (NU) between 2020 and 2024 and want to move on to a Master's, this notice is for you. NU has published the Preliminary to Masters (Regular) admission circular for the 2024-2025 session. The notice carries the memo date of 18 October 2026, and it covers who can apply, what to pay, and how to fill in the form. I went through the whole circular, so here it is in plain words.

Before anything else, note the dates. Missing one of them can cost you a whole year.

Online application: 27 October 2026 (4:00 PM) to 19 November 2026 (12:00 midnight). আবেদনের তারিখ: ২৭ অক্টোবর ২০২৬, বিকাল ৪টা থেকে ১৯ নভেম্বর ২০২৬, রাত ১২টা পর্যন্ত।

The notice says you must pay Tk 1,000 by 22 November 2026, so don't wait until the last day.

Details of the Notice

Applications are open at all colleges affiliated with the National University for the Preliminary to Masters (Regular) program, 2024-2025 session. You apply online from the NU admission website, www.nu.ac.bd/admissions, and then pay the fee at the college you choose. The full details can also be read under the Prospectus/Important Notice option on that website. The notice was issued by the Dean (in charge) of the Center for Postgraduate Education, Training and Research of NU.

Basic Eligibility for Master's 1st-year admission (Regular)

You can apply if you passed the three-year pass (সাধারণ) degree under NU between 2020 and 2024 in the regular exam. You need:

• at least 45% marks in the traditional system, or
• at least CGPA 2.25 in the grading and credit system.

There is one more condition. In the subject you want to study in the Preliminary to Masters (Regular) program, you must have:

• at least 40% marks out of 400 (traditional), or
• at least GPA 2.0 out of 24 credits (grading and credit system).

Who cannot apply to this program?

The undertaking/ (অঙ্গীকারনামা) for Masters part 1 admission 2026

Every applicant has to upload a signed, scanned undertaking. It says you are not currently admitted or studying anywhere else, and if you get double admission, you accept NU's rule to cancel both admission and registration. Break this rule and both your admission and registration are cancelled. Also, if you are placed on the merit list but are still studying elsewhere (result not yet published), you must cancel the earlier admission first.

Merit List and Seat Plan system

The merit list is made separately for each college, based on your pass degree result. Subjects are allotted according to your preference order. If two or more applicants at the same college have the same merit score in the same subject, the younger applicant gets priority.

The process runs in stages: merit list, quota, and then a release slip. Applicants can see the subject-wise result with their User ID, Password and OTP. You can also check by SMS: type nu<space>atmp<space>roll no and send to 16222. Another way is the Applicant Login option on the website, or you can ask your college directly.

Release slip (রিলিজ স্লিপ) Precess

If you are not on the merit list, you cancelled admission, or you got a subject but do not want to join it, you can apply through the release slip. You choose three colleges in order to get a seat in vacant subjects. One thing to remember: if your college did not confirm your preliminary application online, you cannot apply for a release slip.

Admission Fees of Masters Preli admission 2026 (ভর্তি ফি সংক্রান্ত তথ্য)

Application fee

The application fee is Tk 1,000 (এক হাজার টাকা). Of this, Tk 850 goes to the university and Tk 150 to the college.

Registration and other fees

The college deposits NU's Tk 850 share per applicant into the admission fund account, 0218100003245, at any Sonali Bank branch. The Pay Slip must be downloaded first through the college login (Application Payment Info - Preli.).

How to Apply Online (আবেদনের নিয়ম)

1. Go to www.nu.ac.bd/admissions, open the Masters tab, and click Apply Now (Masters Preli.).
2. Enter your pass degree roll number, registration number, passing year, personal mobile number, and email address correctly.
3. Upload the scanned, signed undertaking mentioned above.
4. Check your gender. If the data shows Male instead of Female or the other way round, use Click to Change and correct it. If a male applicant applies to a women's college because of a gender error, the application is treated as cancelled.
5. Select your division, district and college. You will then see the list of eligible subjects and available seats. Set your subject preferences carefully, because subjects are allotted by your preference and merit.
6. If you qualify for a quota, select it in the form. Quotas include children of freedom fighters, small ethnic groups, and people with special needs. The ward quota is only for children of NU teachers, officers, and staff. You need an original certificate from the proper authority.
7. Upload a recent colour passport-size photo: 120 x 150 pixels, JPG format, maximum 50 KB. A different photo from the applicant's own will cause the application to be cancelled.
8. Click Submit Application. Your roll number and PIN will appear. Download the form and print it (or keep the PDF) on A4 white paper.
9. Sign and date the printed form. Submit it to your chosen college with the attested mark sheet, a copy of the registration card, a copy of the undertaking, and the Tk 1,000 fee, within the deadline.

After the college confirms, you will get an SMS. If you do not receive one, contact the college. Without confirmation from the college, no merit list is made for you.

Correction system if you make any mistakes

If you notice wrong information or a bad photo, go to Applicant Login (Master Preli.) and enter your roll and PIN. Use the Form Cancel/Photo Change link and generate the security key to get an OTP by SMS. You can cancel and refill your form only once, and not after the college has confirmed it.

The 2024-2025 Preliminary to Masters admission is simple if you stay organised. Check your result first, read the eligibility list again, keep your photo and undertaking ready, and finish everything well before 19 November 2026.
