What Has Been Announced on Notice
The HSC and equivalent results came out on 31 October 2026. Of 12,40,798 examinees, 6,46,685 passed and 5,94,113 did not. The pass rate was 52.12 percent, down from 58.83 percent last year.
On the same day, Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon said that students who failed one or two subjects would get a new exam within the next month, so that they would not lose a year.
Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board and President of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, added that failed students must fill in a new form to sit the exam. He said a guideline with the new dates would follow within three days.
Of the 5,94,113 students who failed, 4,22,905 failed in only one or two subjects. That is more than seven in every ten, so most of them can pass with focused study on a small part of the syllabus.

Who Can Be Selected for the HSC Re-exam 2026?
Eligibility depends on how many subjects you failed.
| Your situation | Can you sit the re-exam? |
|---|---|
| Failed in one subject | Yes |
| Failed in two subjects | Yes |
| Failed in three or more subjects | Wait for the official guideline; otherwise, you may have to take the next regular HSC exam as an irregular candidate |
| Passed but want a higher GPA | Not covered by this re-exam; follow your board’s improvement rules |
| Applied for re-scrutiny and still failed | You can still fill in the form |
Only the subjects you failed count. If you failed Physics and passed everything else, you sit Physics and nothing more.

Re-exam Fee details
No fee has been announced yet. The Dhaka Board chairman said the guideline would carry the details, and the fee will most likely be listed there along with the payment method.
Until then, keep some money aside and avoid paying anyone who claims to know the fee in advance. Rely only on your college and your board’s website. In past years, form fill-up fees were paid through the college or an approved online or mobile banking channel. The re-exam may follow a similar pattern, but you should wait for the notice before assuming anything.

How to Fill In the HSC Re-exam Form 2026 [hsc re exam form fillup]
The boards will publish the exact rules in the guidelines. Form fill-up for HSC has always gone through the college, so these steps are what you should expect:
- Watch for the notice. Check your board’s website and your college notice board for the guidelines.
- Visit your college office. Take your admit card and registration card.
- Name your failed subjects. You will be registered only for those subjects.
- Pay the fee. Pay as the guideline says, through the college or the approved online method.
- Check your information. Make sure your name, roll number, registration number, and subject codes are correct before the college submits the form. A small mistake can cause real trouble later.
- Collect your new admit card. Pick it up before the exam and note your centre and routine.
Do not wait for the last day. Colleges handle many students at once, and the final days are usually the most crowded.

What Documents do you Need (যা যা ডকুমেন্ট লাগবে)
- HSC 2026 admit card and registration card
- A printout of your online marksheet showing the failed subjects
- Two recent passport-size photographs, since some colleges ask for them
- Money for the fee
- A working mobile number for SMS updates from the board
Re-scrutiny or Re-exam: Which One Should You Choose?
Applications for re-scrutiny are open online from 1 to 7 November 2026. Re-scrutiny does not mean your answer scripts are marked again. It only checks whether your marks were counted and recorded correctly.
| Re-scrutiny | Re-exam | |
|---|---|---|
| What happens | Your marks are re-checked | You sit the exam again |
| When | 1 to 7 November 2026 | Within about a month |
| Best for | A suspected counting or recording mistake | Weak preparation in a subject |
| Can you do both? | Yes | Yes |
If you missed passing by only a few marks, re-scrutiny may be worth trying. But do not depend on it. Fill in the re-exam form as well, so you are covered if your result stays the same.
How the Exam Will Be Held
The boards have not yet released a routine, so the details below are what we know and what is likely.
- Only failed subjects. You will not retake subjects you passed.
- Timing. The exam will take place within about a month of 31 October.
- Conducted by the boards. The re-exam will be run by the education boards under the same coordination committee that handled the main exam.
- Centre and routine. These will come with the guideline and your admit card.
When the routine is published, check the subject dates carefully. If you failed two subjects, find out how many days you have between them.
A One-Month Preparation Plan
A month is short, but it is enough if you stay focused on one or two subjects.
| Week | What to do |
|---|---|
| Week 1 | Collect the syllabus and past board questions. Find your weakest chapters. |
| Week 2 | Study the most common creative and short questions. Practise MCQs daily. |
| Week 3 | Write full answers within the time limit. Ask a teacher to check them. |
| Week 4 | Solve two or three full model tests. Revise formulas, grammar rules, and key definitions. |
English and ICT caused the most failures this year. For English, practise reading comprehension, paragraph and letter writing, and grammar every day. For ICT, concentrate on number systems, HTML basics, and programming questions, which carry many marks and follow a fixed pattern.
Two small habits help a lot. Write by hand every day, because many students lose marks to slow writing. And sleep properly in the last week, since tired students make careless errors.
What Happens If You Pass the Re-exam?
If you pass your failed subjects, the board will publish a new result, and you will be counted as an HSC 2026 pass student. This matters most for admission. Passing early means you may still be able to apply for university, medical and other admission tests this season.
For national university honours admission and similar programmes, students are normally asked for their HSC result, GPA and certificate details at the application stage. Each admission circular sets its own deadlines and conditions, so read it carefully. Some circulars may include special instructions for re-exam students, and it is better to find that out early than at the last minute.

Where to Find Official Updates
Always trust official sources over social media posts and unverified pages. The most reliable places are:
- Dhaka Education Board: dhakaeducationboard.gov.bd
- Your own education board’s website
- Your college office and notice board
- SMS updates sent to your registered mobile number
Fake notices and “guaranteed pass” offers often spread after results. If something asks you to pay money outside your college or an official channel, do not trust it.
